Election Day 2026: A Freemason's Duty as a Citizen

Election Day 2026: A Freemason's Duty as a Citizen

Today, Saturday 7 November, New Zealanders head to the polls for the 2026 General Election.

As Freemasons, we do not discuss politics or religion within the Lodge. We meet on the level, part on the square, and respect each Brother's right to his own opinions and beliefs.

But our responsibilities do not end at the Lodge room door. Freemasonry encourages us to be good citizens, to act with integrity, and to contribute positively to the society in which we live.

Voting is one of the simplest ways we can fulfil that responsibility.

Lodge Tawhiri No. 166 does not support any political party or candidate. We simply encourage every eligible Brother, and every New Zealander, to exercise their democratic right.

Whatever your political views, remember to have your say.

Voting is open from 9am to 7pm today. Find your nearest voting place at vote.nz.
